aypoint is one of the largest cash and retail payment processors in Romania. It has a national reach, with payment machines spread across the country, and it's the way people have been paying bills in Romania for a long time.
However, Paypoint finally decided to make the shift to the online world, by launching a mobile payments app that lets you take care of your bills wherever you are.
Paypoint In A Snapshot
Founded all the way back in 1997, Paypoint processes payments totalling over 14 billion sterling pounds each year, for over 1500 distributors. It always adds new companies to their roster of distributors you can pay bills to, and they usually manage to stay on top of the market.
For example, as the pandemic hit and food delivery services gained a huge spike in demand, Paypoint partnered with Glovo, one of the largest food delivery companies in Romania, to let its delivery personnel use Paypoint machines to pay cash back to the company for all orders processed.
In their own words:
“Paypoint is one of the main payment processing companies, which offer services with added value at an international level. The company is recognized for its advanced technology, for the services it provides to consumers, and for the position of leader in payment processing made through electronic terminals placed in proximity stores.”
The shift to the online world came as no surprise.
The New Paypoint Mobile App
The new Paypoint mobile app comes with a ton of functionalities to help users take care of their bills, wherever they are.
In the new app, you’ll be able to:
- Set reminders for bills
- The ability to pay bills for other people
- Checking the balance of your account with different service providers
- Buying credit for prepaid SIM cards
And a ton of other things. For example, you can create a transaction for any service providers, and save it as a draft to pay it whenever you can.
To scan a bill you need to pay, you can use a few methods. You can scan the barcode on the bill, fill in your client number for an account, or even just uploading a PDF version of your bill, through the app, or via email.
The new app was developed in partnership with Zitec, an IT service provider which created the app itself, and the payment processing system itself is supported by Alpha Bank Romania and Europayment Services, more commonly known in Romania as EuPlatesc.ro.
The Paypoint payment app is already available on Google Play, and the App store, and you can learn more about how it works, and how to download it on their website.
